About the speaker:
Dr John Demartini is considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on human behaviour and personal development. He is also a sought-after business consultant, teacher and an author of many self-help books. The knowledge he shares with his audiences is a culmination of 39 years of dedicated research.
As a gifted teacher, he spends 360 days a year travelling the world sharing his research and teaching his programmes which assist people to become empowered in all areas of their lives.
He delivers approximately 400 speeches a year across numerous countries and has shared the stage with some of the world's most influential people such as Stephen Covey, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra and Donald Trump.
He is the author of 40 self-development books, 9 of which are commercially available and translated into 22 languages. He has produced over 50 CDs and DVDs covering subjects such as relationships, education, finance and business, universal laws.
Dr Demartini has appeared in many documentaries, including The Secret, The Opus, The Compass and Oh My God, alongside celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Ringo Starr and Bob Geldof.
He has been interviewed by hundreds of publications, been on countless radio and television talk shows across the globe and his work has been referenced in over 180 books.
In 1982, Dr Demartini founded the Demartini Institute, a private research and education institute located in Houston Texas. In 2006, the Demartini Institute expanded into Africa and opened an office in Johannesburg. It has a curriculum of many different courses all focusing on maximizing human potential.
He has worked on many social initiatives in South Africa which includes speaking to SA’s Police, prisoners, teachers and underprivileged students.
FROM DYSLEXIA TO ACADEMIA
However, there is never greatness without adversity. Dr Demartini was born on Thanksgiving Day in 1954, but with seemingly little to be thankful for. He was born with a leg and hand deformity that restricted him in braces for nearly three years.
At school he had difficulty reading, writing and had a speech impediment. He was later diagnosed as dyslexic. In first grade, his teacher announced to his parents he would never read, write, communicate, never amount to anything or go very far in life. This forced him to become a drop-out at age 14. He took up surfing and became a beach ‘bum’ in Hawaii.
After nearly dying from Strychnine poisoning, he met a 93 year old man called Paul Bragg who made him believe in himself and what was possible for his life.
He eventually went home to Houston, learnt to read and write at age 18. He achieved a Leaving Certificate from high school, a Bachelors of Science degree and a further degree in Chiropractic, which he achieved with honours.
From the time he could read, Dr Demartini has immersed himself in text books, one of which was on cosmology. This led him to an interest in astronomy which unfolded into astrophysics, physics, metaphysics, theology, mythology and anthropology until eventually his insatiable interest took him through the studies of over 260 'ologies', the most fascinating to him being axiology.
Probably Dr Demartini’s greatest achievement to date is his patented methodology for equilibrating the mind called the Demartini Method™. It has profoundly changed hundreds of thousands of lives across the world. He teaches it as part of his signature programme called: The Breakthrough Experience, which he conducts every weekend in different parts of the world.
It is now apparent that his learning void as a child became his greatest value as an adult. With all his knowledge, Dr Demartini’s lifelong mission is to help as many people as possible live empowered and fulfilled lives.
