SECP Course Information  

TIMELINE The course consists of four modules, comprising of five days each. Blocks run from Wednesday to Sunday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, and each block has two evening sessions. 2012 course dates are as follows:
  • Block 1:  7 - 11 March
  • WORKSHOP (*Mandatory):  28 April
  • Block 2:  23 – 27 May
  • Block 3:  25 – 29 July 
  • Block 4:  26  – 30 September
  • FINAL EXAM:  8 December
PROGRAMME CONTENT While addressing strategic and conceptual issues, the course remains highly practical. Each module consists of:

  • Theory (reading and lectures)
  • Context (case studies and guest speakers, etc.)
  • Integration (syndicate work, assignments, and projects).
In order to assess learning, professors assign deliverables for each session in addition to an Action Learning Project to be completed over the duration of the course. These assignments are directly related to your own organisation and, when compiled, they will constitute your Portfolio of Learning.


ACCREDITATION The programme is accredited by the the University of Pretoria and the Council for Higher Education, and is taught at NQF Level 6.


APPLICATION PROCESS Successful candidates will have:
  • a minimum of five years work experience, including at management level *
  • demonstrated motivation, conceptual skills, and drive
  • tertiary qualification an advantage
*Applicants who are highly qualified but lack sufficient work or academic experience may be considered by exception.

After 31 October, applications are reviewed  and spaces filled on a rolling basis, so earlier applicants have a better chance of acceptance.
